Lake Superior Loop
The Lake Superior Loop is well-known for being a popular motorcycle route, and if you and your girlfriends could go for some fantastic scenery–you’ll find that and more as you set out for a ride around the largest freshwater lake found in the world. This beautiful loop will take you through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ontario, too. Along the way there are plenty of great places to stop and relax–Grand Marais, Wawa, and Thunder Bay are just a few of the them. Enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Superior’s beaches, cliffs, and lighthouses while you ride–but just make sure you have plenty of time to take it all in. The Lake Superior Loop is 1,300 miles long, so you’ll need at least five days or more to complete it.
If you love to ride, historic Route 66 has got to be on your to-do list–and who better to ride with than your friends? You can take this route from Chicago, Illinois, all the way to Santa Monica, California, or anywhere in-between! Other states along Route 66 include Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona–and you’ll find an endless number of cool places to stay, fun and interesting attractions to see, and lots of great restaurants and bars that feature delicious cuisine and popular spirits.
Pacific Highway 1, California
Pacific Highway 1 is the road to ride if you’re looking for an adventure on America’s West Coast in the gorgeous state of California. Also known as Route 1, it runs north and south, and has beginning and ending points in Olympia, Washington, and Los Angeles, California, depending on which way you’re traveling. The Pacific Highway 1 will undoubtedly provide you with plenty of thrills. Winding roads surrounded by sparkling waters, jagged cliffs, and gorgeous redwoods will afford you the ride of a lifetime if you opt to travel this popular route. Noteworthy places to visit along the Pacific Highway in California include Hearst Castle in San Simeon, the many shops and restaurants along the Big Sur coastline, the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, and Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Home to the world-famous Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a great destination if you’re planning an all-girls ride. While there, be sure to visit the Harley-Davidson Museum where you’ll even find night-time entertainment including Thirsty Thursdays and a weekly Friday night fish-fry. Other attractions in Milwaukee worth a second glance are the Miller Brewing Company and the Captain Frederick Pabst Museum. You’ll also find that Milwaukee is home to a variety of museums, shopping centers and boutiques, and many fine-dining options. If your girls’ outing takes place in August, don’t forget about the annual Milwaukee Rally. You’ll find it at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway along with plenty of beer, music, and motorcycle vendors galore.
The Black Hills
South Dakota’s Black Hills feature a number of unforgettable routes to choose from. Take a ride through the Badlands along Route 240 and visit the Badlands National Park, take the Central Hills Loop through Keystone and on to Custer State Park or Mt. Rushmore, or opt for West Highway 44 and take in the stunning scenery of the Black Hills, one of South Dakota’s most beautiful treasures.
Great River Road
Another fantastic motorcycle adventure can be found on the Midwest’s Great River Road, a stretch of nearly 3,000 miles that follows the Mississippi River. The Great River Road spans across an impressive ten states that include the likes of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana–so your experience can be as short or as long as you want it to be. Not only does the Great River Road host many fantastic views of the Mississippi River and the gorgeous landscapes that surround it, it also features many interesting historical sites as well.
Daytona Beach, Florida
Daytona, Florida, is another very popular destination for motorcycle enthusiasts–and it’s the perfect place to go for some fun in the sun. Take a ride around the Daytona Loop which begins and ends at Granada Bridge in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona Beach and take in Florida’s lush and exotic atmosphere– or check out some of the world’s most popular motorcycle festivals, both of which take place in Daytona Beach and feature motorcycle races, live music, contests, spirits, and more.
